Why rich-text copy instead of an HTML file?

Because that's how Gmail, Outlook, and Apple Mail's signature settings actually work — they accept rich text pasted directly into the signature editor. Pasting HTML source as text just gives you the raw `...

` code as visible text instead of a formatted signature. Our Copy as Rich Text button uses the modern Clipboard API to put both `text/html` and `text/plain` on the clipboard so the receiving editor picks the formatted version.

Why `<table>` layouts and inline styles instead of modern CSS?

Email clients are stuck in the early 2000s. Gmail strips most CSS classes (only inline `style=` survives), Outlook on Windows uses Word's HTML renderer which breaks flexbox / grid / most modern CSS, and Apple Mail is forgiving but follows the same baseline. Tables + inline styles is the only layout pattern that renders consistently. We accept the verbose HTML so your signature actually shows up correctly.

Why are images base64-encoded?

Because email clients block remote images by default — your recipients would see a broken-image placeholder until they manually click 'show images.' Embedding as base64 (data URLs) inlines the image bytes directly into the HTML, so it renders immediately. The trade-off is signature size: keep logos and headshots small (under 500 KB each) to avoid bloating every email you send.

Will my signature show up correctly in Outlook on Windows?

Accepted Answer

Mostly yes for the Minimal, Editorial, and Card templates — they use `<table>` layouts that Outlook renders correctly. The Bold template's `border-top` works. Inline SVG social icons may not render in Outlook desktop (Outlook on the web is fine) — the text links underneath still work, so it degrades gracefully. The most-compatible-with-Outlook template is Minimal.
